Dabu printing at Bagru

Having witnessed regional hand block printing in different parts of  the country, the next on the list was a small village Bagru, on the outskirts of Jaipur. During my final year at design college, I was inspired by maati (soil) and what could have been a better printing technique than Dabu, which is a mud-resist block printing technique practiced in Bagru.

Dabu printing, being a resist technique, is mostly done in a single color, generally Indigo or a dark olive color.

Also, Bagru is renowned for their Bagru prints as seen below.
